Why SLICCs?
This section acts as an introduction to SLICCs for students considering a SLICC course, or in the first few weeks of a SLICC course. This purpose of this section is to give students a comprehensive understanding of their role, responsibilities and personal growth opportunities.
Self-directed Learning
- Content: Overview of the importance of SDL/SRL for students
- VUCA valued by employers – creativity, problem-solving
- SLICC as a form of SDL
What Can SLICCs Offer Me?
- Opportunity for students to engage in a project they are passionate about
- Chart of differences between traditional & SLICC course structures
- What students are saying: greater focus on what students have said they enjoy about the course and some challenges (via our survey data, and future marketing materials)
Expectations: What am I Responsible For?
- Content: Outline when it is the student's responsibility to connect with instructors (i.e. for specific feedback, if they are struggling, etc.)
- Teams' vs individual projects – Acknowledge that some courses approach SLICCs through a team project format, but learning goals are still independent
