TO DEVELOPERS/QA/OLC:
Ask instructors whether they would like the following information explicitly included in their assignment description. Note this would only be if the instructor would like the information in the submitted document, as all of the information is also included in the LEARN dropbox.
Include the following information on the first page of your assignment
- your full name (or name of participating group members for group assignments)
- your student ID number
- the course name and number (e.g., COURSE 101)
- the assignment number
- the date you are submitting it
Ask the instructor if he/she would like students to use a specific file-naming convention. (This is not required as LEARN appends student data to the name of the file; but, for example, including topic information may be useful.)
A NOTE ABOUT DROPBOX SET-UP:
If an assignment uses a dropbox, and the dropbox allows for either an "unlimited" option under "Files allowed per submission" or one of "All submissions are kept" or "Only the most recent submission is kept" under "Submissions", then an appropriate sentence should be included. Please use any of the sentences below, if applicable, or alter them as needed to fit the situation.
(Unlimited, Only one submission allowed)
You may only submit once to the dropbox. Be sure to include all necessary files with your submission.
(One file per submission, All submissions are kept)
In the case of multiple submissions by the same student, your instructor will mark only the final submission uploaded, so make sure your final submission is the correct one.
(Unlimited, All submissions are kept)
In the case of multiple submissions by the same student, your instructor will mark only the final submission uploaded, so make sure your final submission is the correct one. Be sure to include all necessary files with each submission.
(One file per submission, Only the most recent submission is kept)
You may only submit one file, but you may submit multiple times. Be aware that if you choose to resubmit, your previous submission will be overwritten.
(Unlimited, Only the most recent submission is kept)
You may submit to the dropbox multiple times, but note that previous files will be overwritten. Be sure to include all necessary files with each submission.
A NOTE ABOUT GROUPS:
If this is a group assignment, include the following paragraph (modify the information in square brackets to suit your needs):
[Group membership can be viewed by clicking] Connect and then Groups on the course navigation bar above. If you are not in a group by the date indicated in the Course Schedule, please contact Technical Support at learnhelp@uwaterloo.ca. Technical support is available during regular business hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (Eastern Time).
A NOTE ABOUT MARKING SCHEMES
The marking scheme can be placed anywhere on the page that makes the most sense for your course. For example, you may choose to swap the order of the “How To Submit Your Assignment” and “How Your Assignment Will Be Graded” sections.
A NOTE ABOUT TURNITIN
The full statement provided on the Office of Academic Integrity site must appear in every course on the University Policies page (this is already part of the CEL Course Template). If your course is using Turnitin, instead of repeating the statement on the assignment page, consider linking to the University Policies page for optimal future-proofing maintenance.
Please note that the following instructions pertain to this specific assignment. Instructions for other assignments may differ.
