Description

All organizations require core principles that they will adhere to when developing a GHG inventory. The adherence to these principles will enable an organization’s GHG inventory to be more acceptable to external reviewers.

These principles will enable any qualified third-party to re-create the organization’s GHG inventory by applying the guidance described by the said principles.

Organizations will also need to select an appropriate GHG emissions calculation approach to ensure the most accurate GHG inventory.

This course section will cover GHG emissions calculation approaches and provide guidance on the core principles used to develop an organization’s GHG inventory. Specifically, the principles of:

  • Relevance
  • Completeness
  • Consistency
  • Transparency
  • Accuracy
 

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • plan a GHG emissions inventory, specifically GHG accounting principles and emissions calculation approaches.

The focus here is on applying GHG accounting principles to the GHG inventory process and identifying emissions calculation approaches.
